I've just picked up the October issue of Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion and as usual, it's full to the brim with the best stuff. This magazine makes me so happy I could cry (true story).
This month, the NYC apartment of artist Rebecca Purcell is featured. These are her own creations, and they are fantastic! Dogs, birds, cameo style frames ... these hit all the right notes for me.

The Art of Home: Daisy Cottage
I am pleased as punch to feature Daisy Cottage in one of my very first posts. This blog of bright warmth is one I'll be visiting again and again. There is even a little soundtrack! Click and enjoy.

Illustrator H. George Brandt
A number of early issues of House & Garden magazine had covers illustrated by H. George Brandt. That's one of his (September 1922) in my masthead; these others are from years 1918 (top), 1920 and 1922. I like the cottages pictured; though they are surrounded by fancy grounds, they retain their proud little charm.
