Room of the Day

The only jarring element (for me) in this room is the rug.
I really dislike the rug, but the rest of the room is almost cute enough to make up for it!

Vintage Photo Booth Snapshots
I love these glimpses into mid 20th century life. Who knews what these peoples' lives were like, or what they lay ahead of them?
For me, photobooth images are intensely romantic. They are quick, evanescent, the moment is ephemeral ... all of it caught with a coin or two, a curtain and an ordinary camera.
Memories are made of these ...
1930's
1930's
1940's
(this one is my favorite -- don't they look thick as thieves?)
1940's
1950's

Summer breeze, makes me feel fine ...
Perfect beachside cottage room, isn't it
Can't you just hear the surf and smell the sea?

Oh, the pinkness!
These gorgeous images are from a post on the blog From Me To You.
First seen at another Paris Hotel Boutique Journal, another beauty of a blog.
These are the kind of blog Buttercup Bungalow would be if it ever grew up ...
... which is unlikely to happen, because I am much more involved in my primary blog, The Daily Corgi.
But a gal can dream!
Chairs by Kate Forman
Very restrained, very English, very feminine!
Chairs from Kate Forman Designs.
My favorite is #2 (the cushy, oversized one) but they are all great, and the interiors are uniformly scrumptious.
Memoirs of a Geisha: Ziyi Zhang
Ziyi Zhang played the role of Nitta Sayuri in the 2005 film Memoirs of a Geisha, a movie based on Arthur Golden's 1997 book of the same name.
Zhang was absolutely exquisite in the film.
The images that came out of Memoirs were some of the loveliest I'd ever seen ... in web searching for more, I came up with some that very nearly took my breath away!
Enjoy.

Room of the Day
source: Home Interior Design
If you've been visiting the blog for a couple of months now, you've no doubt noticed that the Rooms of the Day have explored the possibilities of pink, in a primarily traditional setting.
Much as I love pink (and I do, I do!), it's time to roam ... there are so many other things I've flown right past on my search for pink rooms. A great many interesting spaces -- inside and outside -- to which I've said only the briefest of hellos.
What colors and themes come next? I don't know ...
... but that's half the fun, isn't it?
Stay tuned!
